Associated Students Richard Tanaka Transfer Student Scholarship

Opportunity Information
This scholarship was established by SJCC Associated Students in memory of Richard Tanaka. This award is for a San Jose City College student that will be transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall semester.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must have completed at least 12 units at San Jose City College.
  • Applicant must be transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall semester. It must also be the applicant’s first time attending a four-year university.
  • Applicant’s cumulative GPA must be a 3.0 minimum.
  • Applicant must currently be enrolled as a full-time student (i.e. enrolled in at least 12 units)

Essay Requirement
Write a brief statement demonstrating how you participate in extra-curricular activities at SJCC or in the community. (100 – 300 words)

  4. By checking this box, you acknowledge that applicants awarded a scholarship will be required to attend an in-person award ceremony hosted on campus at San Jose City College. Attendance at the award ceremony will be mandatory for all scholarship recipients, unless the student has a class scheduled during the time of the ceremony or if the student has an extenuating circumstance. You also acknowledge that you will be required to submit a "Thank-You Letter" to the donor(s) providing the scholarship opportunity.
