Latino Educators Association (LEA) Transfer Student Scholarship
Opportunity Information
Award is given by the Latino Educators Association (LEA) with the Castellano Family Foundation to a San Jose City College student who has demonstrated a commitment to the community. Preference will be given to Latino/Latina students.
Students that will be continuing at San Jose City College in the upcoming Fall semester are not eligible to be selected, but they are invited to apply to the “Latino Educators Association (LEA) Continuing Student Scholarship” opportunity.
Qualifications
- Applicant must have completed at least 24 units at San Jose City College.
- Applicant’s cumulative GPA must be a 2.5 minimum.
- Applicant must currently be enrolled at least as a half-time student (i.e. enrolled in at least 6 units).
- Applicant must be transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall semester. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student (i.e. enrolled in at least 12 units) during the upcoming Fall semester.

- Write a short statement providing evidence of your commitment to the community service. (150 – 300 words)
- Provide a typed, 2 page, doubled-spaced essay showing how your degree will impact the Latino community.

- By checking this box, you acknowledge that applicants awarded a scholarship will be required to attend an in-person award ceremony hosted on campus at San Jose City College. Attendance at the award ceremony will be mandatory for all scholarship recipients, unless the student has a class scheduled during the time of the ceremony or if the student has an extenuating circumstance. You also acknowledge that you will be required to submit a "Thank-You Letter" to the donor(s) providing the scholarship opportunity.
