Latino Educators Association (LEA) Continuing Student Scholarship

Opportunity Information
Award is given by the Latino Educators Association (LEA) with the Castellano Family Foundation to a San Jose City College student who has demonstrated a commitment to the community. Preference will be given to Latino/Latina students.

Students that will be will transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall are not eligible to be selected, but they are invited to apply to the “Latino Educators Association (LEA) Transfer Student Scholarship” opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be attending San Jose City College during the upcoming Fall semester.
  • Applicant must have completed at least 12 units at San Jose City College.
  • Applicant’s cumulative GPA must be a 2.5 minimum.
  • Applicant must currently be enrolled at least as a half-time student (i.e. enrolled in at least 6 units).

Supplemental Questions

  1. Write a short statement providing evidence of your commitment to the community service. (150 – 300 words)
  2. Provide a typed, 2 page, doubled-spaced essay showing how your degree will impact the Latino community.

  4. By checking this box, you acknowledge that applicants awarded a scholarship will be required to attend an in-person award ceremony hosted on campus at San Jose City College. Attendance at the award ceremony will be mandatory for all scholarship recipients, unless the student has a class scheduled during the time of the ceremony or if the student has an extenuating circumstance. You also acknowledge that you will be required to submit a "Thank-You Letter" to the donor(s) providing the scholarship opportunity.
