Robert N. Chang Charitable Foundation Transfer Scholarship

Opportunity Information
This scholarship opportunity is provided by the Robert N. Chang Foundation for students that will be transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall semester. Priority will be given to students who meet all qualifications and have completed all supplemental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be transferring to a four-year university in the upcoming Fall semester. Applicant must be enrolling full-time at a four-year institution with junior level status (60 transferable units completed with at least 30+ completed at SJCC) .
  • Applicant’s cumulative GPA must be a 3.00 minimum.
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student, with at least 9 units being at SJCC. Applicants who are not enrolled full-time will be asked to explain the circumstances of their enrollment status.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need by their financial aid application (FAFSA or CADAA) and/or through their written statement.

Essay & Submission Requirements

  1. Applicant must provide a copy of their Spring course schedule.
  2. Applicant must provide unofficial transcripts for SJCC/EVC and all other colleges the student has attended.
  3. Submit 2-3 pages doubled-spaced describing your college and life experiences, as well as your goals. Include obstacles/challenges you may have encountered.
  4. Applicant must provide two letters of recommendation. At least one letter must come from an instructor at SJCC.

  10. By checking this box, you acknowledge that applicants awarded a scholarship will be required to attend an in-person award ceremony hosted on campus at San Jose City College. Attendance at the award ceremony will be mandatory for all scholarship recipients, unless the student has a class scheduled during the time of the ceremony or if the student has an extenuating circumstance. You also acknowledge that you will be required to submit a "Thank-You Letter" to the donor(s) providing the scholarship opportunity.
